College of Performing Arts: Drama
CRN: 9892
Credits: 3
Directed Research: New and Extant Plays is an opportunity for students to apply the skills and practices of the Dramatic Arts curriculum to a culminating Senior Project in writing, directing, acting, or design. During the year-long course, students will document and reflect on the process of conceptualizing, preparing, creating, and presenting their Senior Project in a final Process Book to be turned in at the end of the Spring Semester. The year-long development of these Senior Projects will call upon the students to draw upon the techniques, skills, and learning from their BFA core curriculum. Students will also be expected to apply insights afforded by their electives and demonstrate an awareness of prominent challenges in their disciplinary and artistic practice. On the path towards the completion of a culminating project, students will employ and refine their evolving skills of research, analysis, communication, collaboration, and presentation in the Dramatic Arts field.
