College of Performing Arts: Drama
CRN: 14521
Credits: 2
This course is designed to explore how technology and media can be used to enhance a collaborative approach to theater-making. Writing, directing and performing, students work together towards completion of short plays or performances, experiencing the creative dynamics of media technologies such as video, animation, sound and projection design in various combinations. Students will investigate new concepts, methods, and practices through a series of questions: How do we treat media technologies as sources of inspiration rather than understanding them simply as tools? How can we utilize the media-making process as a way to externalize ideas? How do we develop a common language around technology so we maintain an open and accessible collaborative setting?
