Credits: 2
Physical theatre is a practice that privileges the moving body as a driver of narrative over dialogue. In this class students will learn approaches to making physical theatre work through improvisation, devising, choreography, and spatial composition. Each class will begin with a warmup meant to ready the body for movement and avoid injury, followed by creative tasks that encourage embodied discovery, followed by setting repeatable phrases and scenes. The course will culminate in a public performance. *in addition to class time on Thursday, students will be expected to attend rehearsals on Wednesday and Friday evenings, and on Saturday afternoons. These rehearsals will be the same duration as class time.
