Space II aims to integrate, consolidate and move beyond the learning obtained in Space I, to explore performance as a spatial art that moves outside of the boundaries of the conventional stage and the theatre building, and occupies a particular social and public space. The course consists of three modules. 1) Discovering the site, in which students will explore site as a multi-layered entity with physical, utilitarian, historical, social, and political dimensions, and will develop performance responses inspired by those diverse perspectives; 2) Activating the site, where student investigate how to integrate narrative, movement, scenography and audience into site-based performances; 3) Expanding the site, which considers an expanded notion of what site-based performance entails and where it can take place.
