Performance Skills: Advanced Acting 2
College of Performing Arts: Drama
CRN: 14925
Credits: 4
Students will take the process of developing and owning an approach to creating a character on stage learned in Advanced Acting I and implement those foundations to the on-camera medium. Starting with physical exercises, then learning screen text analysis, the class will then lead to work on short audition sides, self-tape techniques and partnered scene work. Students will gain experience working in front of the camera and reviewing their work on screen in order to make improvements in the application of their acting skills to the medium of on-camera performance. Students will have the opportunity to work on real audition sides as well as multiple scenes from screenplays. Students will focus on maintaining both physical continuity and inner life of the character, while meeting the technical demands of on-camera work. Work will be taped for in-class critique. Guest artists will be brought in to talk about the business and craft of acting on camera.
