The Venture Lab is an immersive course designed for students to address critical social and environmental challenges through community-led organizations. Ideal for students who have already developed a deep understanding of a systemic issue and established relationships within the community they aim to support, this course equips participants with the tools and knowledge needed to plan for financial sustainability and demonstrate the potential for impact while practicing mutuality and collective decision-making. Throughout the course, students deepen their understanding of the systemic issue, strengthen community relationships, and map out the landscape of partners and elders who have navigated similar systems. Students also learn about different types of funders and their expectations, how to define a theory of change, and how to build a case for funding. Please contact professor van der Meer at vandermj@newschool.edu to request permission to register.
