Credits: 1 TO 4

Students undertaking senior capstone work in Urban Studies enroll in this seminar. Students will complete a project of their own design and in a format of their choosing. Under close supervision of the instructor, students develop a research question, select a format for inquiry and analysis, draw up a proposal, conduct research, and present results. The seminar consists of weekly group meetings, individual sessions with the instructor, and peer-review workshops. Group meetings are devoted to discussion of research process, methods, ethics, trouble-shooting, critical reflection, and to sharing work in progress. Individual sessions and peer review workshops are devoted to reviewing drafts and revisions. The seminar may be taken either in the Fall or Spring or over two semesters. Students register for 1-4 credits in consultation with the instructor, depending on their requirements and the scope and stage of the project.
