COURSE DESCRIPTION Goals: provide knowledge of fundamental concepts, historical background, and terminology of Schenkerian analysis, and technical skill in reading and writing Schenkerian graphs. LEARNING OUTCOMES (1 sem.) By the successful completion of this course, students will be able to show: 1. Understanding of Schenkerian principles of analysis 2. Ability to make Schenkerian analyses of tonal works, working independently 3. Integrate understanding of Schenkerian techniques in the general study of forms.
