Goals: Provide a body of background knowledge of string, wind and brass instruments and orchestral instrumentation techniques and how to make effective use of it in analysis and writing. LEARNING OUTCOMES By the successful completion of this course, students will be able to show: 1. Ability to orchestrate a short piano piece, or song with piano, for double wind orchestra, or triple wind with limited use of auxiliary instruments. 2. Understanding of wind and brass techniques and their use in instrumentation.
