Led by award-winning trumpeter and composer Dave Douglas, this performance class will involve all the elements of creative music practice: from conception of ideas, to composition, notation, and rehearsal techniques. All participants will both perform as instrumentalists in the ensemble and compose new works for the other ensemble members. Composition for improvisers will be encouraged but not required. Course will culminate in a professional recording of new works. Participants will be required to audition for the course.
