The “Springsteen as History” Project, created by Marilisa Merolla, is an original teaching and research project in Contemporary history promoted by the Music Making History Sapienza Research Unit in Rome https://web.uniroma1.it/disse/node/7232 (Italy) and The New School in New York City (USA) currently online among the educational programs of “The Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University” https://springsteenarchives.org/education/ Unlocking Springsteen as History https://youtu.be/tDiNCMwX1gA?feature=shared The “Springsteen as History” Project aims to work out intricate contemporary historical issues through Springsteen’s rock and roll music, in a transnational perspective. The program challenges the studying and the teaching of political and social processes investigating the role played by Bruce Springsteen as a complex contemporary American "sound ambassador" ––of course a "Born in the USA" ambassador–– in the current international landscape. The interdisciplinary structure of the program enhanced by a pioneering methodology offers three specific paths/levels ––Vibration, Criticism, Coinage–– for the student/researcher to create original research on how “music makes history” in different fields: social and political sciences, performing arts, and journalism.
