This workshop will dive into the many questions new artists and producers have regarding the creation, development, and evaluation of their musical material. Students in the course will write and produce their own works and receive feedback from their peers and the instructor. The class will also cover the basics of song production and post-production, preparing students to be artists in the commercial music market. Topics of discussion will include song structure and arrangement, production and sound quality, current production techniques, basic marketing techniques aimed at reaching target audiences. The course will also include discussions on how the commercial music industry chooses hit songs and markets them. Students taking the course should be songwriters, and have basic knowledge of working in a DAW (Logic, ProTools, etc.).
