Political Psychology: Morality, Hierarchies and Groups
Eugene Lang College Lib Arts: Psychology
CRN: 7059
Credits: 4
In modern life we often find ourselves inundated in ideological rhetoric. Partisan demagoguery and politicized rhetoric are widely thought to fuel polarization and increasing vitriol. In the present class, we explore the psychological processes underlying political ideology. The course will emphasize both the application of psychology to understanding political life and also the way in which research into political behavior can shed light on fundamental psychological processes. We will pay special attention to morality and hierarchy.
