Audition Monologue Workshop for the Camera
Eugene Lang College Lib Arts: The Arts
CRN: 19594
Credits: 3
This introductory monologue workshop for the camera equips students with the skills to create audition reels suitable for submission to casting agents. Reflecting current industry trends, casting agencies now frequently employ virtual formats and self-taped auditions. Through extensive monologue study, students will learn to analyze scripts and respond spontaneously, trusting their inner impulses. The course also aims to develop psychological gestures that articulate a character's rich inner world and emotional range, supporting the creation of nuanced and compelling monologue performances. Students will prepare two monologues selected from both classical and contemporary plays. During the course, the students will create a Digital Copy of their monologue work to submit to the casting agents. This course fulfills a theater elective requirement for Lang Theater majors and minors.
