This graduate course is designed for high-intermediate to advanced-level students who are interested in Chinese popular culture and contemporary cultural politics. Students study Mandarin Chinese language and society through the dynamic lens of popular culture, TV drama and cinema, and new media. Additional key topics include contemporary Chinese art, fashion and youth culture. [In Chinese] Proficiency: intermediate-high or advanced level proficiency in Mandarin Chinese.

This course counts toward the completion of the Graduate Minor in Language Studies in Chinese studies.
