Writing the Workplace
Fall 2025
Taught By: Kyle Lucia Wu
Section: A

CRN: 18232

Credits: 3

While labor is a compulsory part of life for most artists, who need day jobs in order to support their art-making, the workplace is also a rich and entertaining backdrop for literature. Work can bring characters to life as they navigate the nuances, particular languages, and stark pressures of life under capitalism. We’ll explore how to weave our own experiences of work into our writing and power and agency in the workplace, as well as the intrigue of another’s routine. Class will include workshop elements and the study of texts by Sarah Thankam Mathews, Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, Dantiel W. Moniz, and Anthony Veasna So
