This course exposes students to thorough and elaborate interactive concepts and techniques for applications. It is an extensive investigation in the interface, the mechanism, the controls and the aims of interactive works. Students will learn how to design and develop complex interactive projects and understand how to undertake a comprehensive research and direct their thinking process from brainstorming to final outcome. They will be given the tools to conceive, plan and develop an interactive system and they will become aware of the importance of their role in the development of interactive media.

Open to: All University undergraduate degree students. Pre-requisite(s): PSAM 1028 Web Design Basics, PUCD 2125 Core Studio Interaction, PACD 1110 Core 1: Interaction, or PUDT 2200 Core Studio Environments.

This course will examine the fundamentals of digital product design by applying past learning in typography and interaction towards the design of digital products both practical and experimental. Students will learn user research techniques, wireframing, prototyping, and production methods for interactive applications. We will explore the interface, affordances, values, and aims of interactive applications and software and investigate them formally, critically, and ethnographically in the context of communication design.
