Parsons School of Design: School of Design Strategies
CRN: 18371
Credits: 3
This course is for students committed to developing their writing and editorial skills at a professional level in a creative and interdisciplinary context. Students will produce a diverse writing portfolio, engage with the work of others as editors, and contribute to the production of Strategies, an online publication at Parsons focused on social change through art, design, and the human sciences. Collaborating with researchers and creative practitioners both at and beyond the university, students will recruit authors, pitch ideas, workshop drafts, review submissions, and write articles, shaping the direction of this new platform. Together, we consider aesthetics, voice, style, and form at the intersections of research, creative practice, and public speech, asking how contemporary social, political, and technological issues shape the ways we read, write, and engage in inquiry. Students leave the course with published work, editorial skills, and insight into the production process.
