This class in the playwriting track will focus on all the elements of playwriting: character, conflict, action, theatricality and story through the lens of the one act, a demanding and yet flexible form. Students will write at least one one act in the course, and if time permits, several more as the bulk of the class is spent workshopping your own writing. We will also read and analyze some lively masterpieces of the form and discover what inspiration, knowledge and prompts we can draw from them to enrich our own work. Prerequisite: Foundations in Playwriting.
