The course will examine the history of the US Supreme Court, its role in US society, and major decisions of the Court on issues such as abortion, affirmative action, the rights of immigrants, due process, the creation of (and challenges to) the federal administrative state. We will assess the constitutionality of actions and policies of the Trump Administration and also pay particular attention to theories of constitutional interpretation. **Students must register for both the lecture and discussion section of this course.** This ULEC is in category 1 - Tools for Social Change
