Open only to students in the Writing & Democracy Honors Program, these workshops and meetings formalize the educational aspect of 12th Street, the literary journal of the Writing and Democracy program. Each meeting of the seminar covers an aspect central to the production of a literary journal for the editors and readers, including selection, copyediting, and setting a time-line for an issue. Professional journal editors visit the class to relate their experiences, answer questions, and provide further perspective on the editorial process. Student editors develop practical skills applicable to careers in editing and publishing and have the distinction of publishing eclectic, culturally-engaged work that showcases the talented undergraduate artists and writers at The New School.
